Australian players were also in high demand, with several being picked up by different teams. Let’s take a look at the Australian players who were sold at the IPL 2025 Auction.

Jake Fraser-McGurk (Delhi Capitals – INR 9 crore )

Jake Fraser-McGurk, who was released by Delhi Capitals before the IPL 2025 auction, has been brought back by the franchise for INR 9 crore. The bidding war for him included Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants.

The final bid was INR 5.50 crore by Punjab Kings, but Delhi used their Right to Match (RTM) card. Punjab then raised the bid to INR 9 crore, but Delhi exercised their RTM again to retain Fraser-McGurk. A key player for Delhi in the past, he will once again represent the team in IPL 2025.

Mitchell Starc (Delhi Capitals – INR 11.75 crore)

Mitchell Starc has been bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 11.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. He played for KKR last season but was released before the auction. Previously, Starc held the record as the most expensive player in IPL history when KKR bought him for INR 24.75 crore.

This auction, teams like MI, KKR, DC, and RCB competed fiercely for him, but Delhi Capitals won the bid. Although Starc had a slow start last season, he impressed everyone with his performance during the playoffs. Delhi will be hoping for similar match-winning performances from him.

Mitchell Marsh (Lucknow Super Giants – INR 3.40 crore)

Mitchell Marsh has been bought by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 3.40 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. The Australian all-rounder was released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the auction. Sunrisers Hyderabad and LSG were involved in a bidding war, but LSG eventually secured him.

Known for his powerful hitting, Marsh is also a handy bowler who can chip in with useful overs. LSG will look to utilize his all-round abilities to strengthen their squad.

Marcus Stoinis (Punjab Kings – INR 11 crore)

Marcus Stoinis has been bought by Punjab Kings for INR 11 crore in the IPL 2025 auction after being released by Lucknow Super Giants. RCB, CSK, and PBKS were involved in the bidding, with Punjab securing the winning bid.

Stoinis had a strong IPL 2024 with the bat and can also contribute with the ball. Punjab Kings will aim to maximize his all-round skills to strengthen their squad.

Glenn Maxwell (Punjab Kings – INR 4.20 crore)

Glenn Maxwell has been bought by Punjab Kings for INR 4.20 crore in the IPL 2025 auction after being released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. SRH, PBKS, and CSK bid for him, but Punjab Kings secured the deal. Getting Maxwell at this price is considered a steal.

Maxwell returns to PBKS for the third time, having played for them in two previous stints. Alongside Marcus Stoinis, he can strengthen the team by contributing in the middle overs with the bat and offering useful overs with the ball.

Adam Zampa (Sunriers Hyderabad – INR 2.40 crore)

Adam Zampa has been bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 2.40 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. He missed the 2024 season due to personal reasons and previously played for Rajasthan Royals. His base price was INR 2 crore, with SRH starting the bidding. Rajasthan Royals raised the price, but SRH secured him at INR 2.40 crore.

SRH lacked a quality spinner last season, and Zampa’s T20 experience makes him a valuable addition to their squad. His expertise in the shortest format could strengthen their bowling attack.

Josh Hazlewood (Royal Challengers Bengaluru – INR 12.50 crore)

Josh Hazlewood has been bought by RCB for INR 12.50 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, making him the most expensive Australian player sold in this auction. He was released by the franchise before the IPL 2024 auction and went unsold last season. This year, teams like LSG, KKR, MI, and RCB competed for him, and RCB ultimately secured the winning bid.

RCB faced challenges with their powerplay bowling last season. Hazlewood’s return provides them with a dependable option to bolster their attack in this critical phase of the game.
