Hailing from a humble background, Vignesh’s father, Sunil Kumar, works as an auto driver, while his mother, K.P. Bindhu, is a homemaker. Despite financial challenges, his parents always supported his passion for cricket and encouraged him to pursue his dreams.

Yet to Break into Kerala’s Senior Squad

Vignesh’s cricketing journey started under the mentorship of his local coach, Vijayan. Over time, he represented Kerala in age-group categories such as U-14, U-19, and U-23. Despite his achievements at the junior level, he is yet to make his debut for the Kerala senior team.

Ahead of the IPL auction, Vignesh attended trials with the Mumbai Indians. His standout performances during the trials impressed the team management and secured him a spot in the squad.

Other players from Kerala also made headlines during the auction. Vishnu Vinod was bought by the Punjab Kings for INR 95 lakhs, while Sachin Baby joined Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 30 lakhs.
