CSK Playing XI, IPL 2025: Best Chennai Super Kings Playing 11, Players List and Full Squad

Let’s see how CSK might arrange their strongest playing XI for the upcoming IPL 2025 season.

The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners made some smart buys in the IPL 2025 auction as they set their sights on a record sixth title.

After retaining their star icons like MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana, CSK further bolstered their squad by adding twelve more players in the auction.

The Chennai outfit splurged INR 9.75 crores from their purse to bring back Ravichandran Ashwin and reunited the Ash-Jaddu pair once again. Their biggest signing however was Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad at INR 10 crores. They completed their full squad of 25 players and have most bases covered.

Complete CSK Squad and Players List for IPL 2025:

MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana, Devon Conway, Rahul Tripathi, Rachin Ravindra, Ravichandran Ashwin, Khaleel Ahmed, North Ahmad, Vijay Shankar, Sam Curran, Anshul Kamboj, Shaik Rasheed, Mukesh Choudhary, Deepak Hooda, Gurjapneet Singh, Nathan Ellis, Jamie Overton, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Ramakrishna Ghosh, Shreyas Gopal, Vansh Bedi, Andre Siddharth

Strongest CSK Playing XI for IPL 2025:

  • Ruturaj Gaikwad
  • Devon Conway
  • Rachin Ravindra
  • Rahul Tripathi
  • Shivam Dube
  • Ravindra Jadeja
  • MS Dhoni (wk)
  • Sam Curran
  • Ravichandran Ashwin
  • Khaleel Ahmed
  • Matheesha Pathirana

Bench: Vijay Shankar, Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Choudhary, Shaik Rasheed, Anshul Kamboj, Gurjapneet Singh, Nathan Ellis, Jamie Overton, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Ramakrishna Ghosh, Shreyas Gopal, Vansh Bedi, Andre Siddharth, Deepak Hooda

Strongest Points:

  • Strong top-order batting lineup after getting back their star batters Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra from last season.
  • Great depth in batting running till No.9.
  • Ash-Jaddu pair reunited along with Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad forms a lethal spin trio.
  • Great all-rounder backups in Vijay Shankar, Jamie Overton, Anshul Kamboj, and Ramakrishna Ghosh.

Weakest Points:

  • Sub par form of Deepak Hooda and Vijay Shankar
  • MS Dhoni’s extent of participation remains unknown. He might just bat as impact player, with Devon Conway doing the Keeping duties.

Will the over-dependency on MS Dhoni to finish games end?

Retaining Dhoni as an uncapped player proved to be a budget advantage, yet his role as a finisher may be physically demanding given his age. CSK haven’t made any particular addition as a finisher and while Dhoni’s performance will be clinical, CSK will need to be mindful that over-reliance on Dhoni for match-winning finishes could strain the team, especially as newer players acclimatise.
