RR could fill 20 of the available 25 spots and had 2 overseas slots left by the end of the auction.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) went into the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction with the lowest available purse at INR 41 crores but managed to make smart acquisitions to add versatality and depth to their squad.
Given that they retained the core of their batting unit, RR was more focussed on bolstering their bowling department. The inaugural IPL winners brought back England speedster Jofra Archer, which was their most expensive buy at INR 12.5 crores. They also added the Sri Lanka spin duo of Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga.
In the batting unit, they added domestic star Nitish Rana to an already exisisting explosive batting lineup including the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer.
RR, however, could fill only 20 of the available 25 spots and had 2 overseas slots left by the end of the auction.
Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Sandeep Sharma, Shimron Hetmyer, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Akash Madhwal, Kumar Kartikeya Singh, Nitish Rana, Tushar Deshpande, Shubham Dubey, Yudhvir Charak, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Kwena Maphaka, Kunal Rathore, Ashok Sharma.

Jofra Archer is an injury-prone player and has had previous issues with workload management. Interestingly, ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had denied Archer from participating in the IPL to prepare for next year’s Ashes. However, the new rules forced him to change his mind and put his ring into the hat.
Previously also, after MI snapped the speedster up in the IPL 2022 auction, Archer missed the season due to injury and then played only 5 games the following edition before leaving the IPL midway due to an elbow injury.
Thus, if he gets injured again or some other similar issue arises, he can prove to be the biggest threat to the team.
