Gujarat Titans (GT) spark rumours on their possible retentions with latest social media post

Gujarat Titans (GT) posted pictures of two of their main players, probably hinting they would retain both.

There’s an interesting post from Gujarat Titans’ social media account to spark rumours about their retention ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. They posted pictures of two of their main players, probably hinting they would retain both.

GT posted images of their captain Shubman Gill and their talismanic all-rounder Rashid Khan, with a caption saying, “All over the opponents like a Shub-Rash”. While nothing is concrete, social media users assume it indicates what to expect from the 2022 champions regarding their retention strategy.

A few reports floating around the internet have claimed that Rashid is looking to come into the auction, for he hasn’t reached complete negotiation with the Titans, and that Mumbai Indians (MI) are looking to go hard after him. Almost all teams will go after him if he comes into the auction, and his price will surge massively.

Due to the services he offers in all departments, he can earn more than the retention slab. There have been no signs of sour relations between Rashid and team owners, so not retaining him as one of the top selections doesn’t look true, for GT should agree to whatever he wants.

Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan – two faces of Gujarat Titans

Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan have been with the franchise since its inception in 2022 and played a crucial role in making it so successful in the initial two years. Once Hardik Pandya decided to part ways with the franchise and move back to Mumbai Indians, Shubman was also appointed as the captain, and even though he didn’t start his captaincy tenure on a high note, the team saw him as a long-term leader.

Even as a batter, Gill has been the highest run-getter for GT. He has 1799 runs at an average of 44.97 and a strike rate of 147.70 in 45 innings, including ten fifties and four centuries.

Meanwhile, Rashid Khan has contributed with both bat and ball and has been one of their biggest match-winners in the first three seasons. He is GT’s leading wicket-taker, snaring 56 wickets at an average of 23.92 in 45 innings, comprising two four-wicket hauls.

GT should ideally retain these two as their first two retentions and give them their deserved amount. Their previous franchises made a massive mistake by releasing them, and GT should avoid making the same mistake.
