The IPL 2022 mega auction threw up quite a few surprises. Apart from the known faces, some of the younger and lesser-known players also hogged the limelight. They went on to trigger bidding wars and ended up fetching handsome deals. Franchises also shelled out significant amounts for some of the uncapped players.

Here are the highest priced uncapped players in IPL auction history

Avesh Khan

has been taking part in the IPL since 2017, but it was only in the previous season that he made an impact. In 16 matches, he picked up 24 wickets and took the Delhi Capitals (DC) to the playoffs.

Khan bowled in the powerplay and also chipped in with wickets in the death overs. This time around, he would be playing for the Lucknow Super Giants, who roped him in from INR 10 crores.

Krishnappa Gowtham

Krishnappa Gowtham made his IPL debut in 2018 for the Rajasthan Royals. Even as he bowled some useful spells, he was more than effective with the bat in hand. In 24 IPL matches, Gowtham has scored 186 runs and picked up 13 wickets.

In 2021, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) roped him in for INR 9.25 lakhs. But he didn’t get a whole lot of chances of play for the MS Dhoni-led team. Gowtham has also done exceptionally in the Karnataka Premier League.

Rahul Tewatia

Rahul Tewatia came to the limelight after he took West Indies fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell to the cleaners at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in 2020. He scored a quickfire half-century and gave an account of his skills.

On the back of his knock, the Rajasthan Royals defeated the Punjab Kings in the close encounter. He has now been picked by the Gujarat Titans at a price of INR 9 crores. Tewatia can also pick regular wickets with his leg-breaks.

Shahrukh Khan

Shahrukh Khan played for the Punjab Kings on his debut IPL season and churned out some match-winning knocks. In the 2022 IPL mega auction, PBKS again secured his services after buying him for INR 9 crores.
