KL Rahul Won’t Go Back to Punjab Kings; RCB and Two Other Teams His Likely Destination in IPL 2025 Auction: Robin Uthappa

Uthappa ruled out a move back to PBKS, even though they have retained only two IPL newbies and will be in search of a leader.

A number of big Indian superstars are set to go under the hammer in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction, slated to be held on November 24-25.

Amongst them, one of the most anticipated names will be former Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper KL Rahul.

With quite a few teams on the lookout for an Indian captain, the dynamic right-handed wicketkeeper-batter is expected to spark a bidding war in Jeddah.

Sharing his opinions on the same, former India and IPL star Robin Uthappa gave his prediction on KL Rahul’s likely destinations. Interestingly, Uthappa ruled out a move back to PBKS, even though they have retained only two IPL newbies and will be in search of a leader.

The 39-year-old, however, named Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as one of the biggest contenders to go after Rahul’s signature along with two other franchises.

Uthappa said during a discussion on Star Sports, “I think RCB could be a massive contender for KL Rahul. Punjab, I don’t think he will probably go back there. Perhaps someone like Delhi could be interested. Even GT could be interested. I am not quite sure about CSK because you have already got a captain. He has been a leader before, so he will perhaps look forward to a role like that.”

Uthappa also went on to give his verdict on the likely top 5 expensive wicketkeepers at the auction. Apart from KL Rahul, the CSK and KKR veteran named Rishabh Pant, Jos Buttler, Quinton de Kock and Phil Salt.
