Meet Tejasvi Jaiswal: Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Brother Who Has Entered IPL 2025 Auction

Tejasvi Jaiswal, elder brother of rising India star Yashasvi Jaiswal, has enlisted himself for the IPL 2025 Auction at a base price of INR 30 Lakhs.

Cricket has an uncanny ability to weave together stories of dreams, sacrifices, and second chances. While Yashasvi Jaiswal has already captured the imagination of millions as India’s rising cricket star, his elder brother Tejasvi Jaiswal is now stepping out of the shadows, ready to make his own mark.

The 27-year-old has entered the IPL 2025 auction with a base price of INR 30 lakhs, signaling the beginning of what could be a remarkable comeback story.

Tejasvi’s name may not yet resonate with cricket fans like his younger brother’s, but his journey is one that deserves the spotlight. From quitting cricket to support his brother’s dreams to now carving out his own path, Tejasvi’s story is a tale of perseverance and redemption.

Tejasvi Jaiswal’s Journey: Story Rooted in Sacrifice

Hailing from Bhadohi, a small town in Uttar Pradesh, the Jaiswal brothers grew up in modest circumstances. Their father ran a hardware shop, and resources were scarce. In 2012, the family made a life-changing decision to send Tejasvi and Yashasvi to Mumbai to pursue cricket.

The brothers lived in a tent at Azad Maidan, Mumbai’s cricketing hub, where they trained and scraped by on meager meals. While both dreamt of playing for India, it soon became clear that their family couldn’t afford to support two aspiring cricketers. Tejasvi, the elder sibling, made the ultimate sacrifice—he gave up his cricketing ambitions so Yashasvi could chase his.

“I wanted to play cricket, but our financial situation didn’t allow it. Yashasvi was performing well, and I didn’t want anything to hold him back,” Tejasvi was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

By 2013, he moved to Delhi to work at a relative’s shop selling decorative lights. While he toiled as a salesman, sending money back home, Yashasvi rose through the ranks, breaking records in age-group cricket and eventually earning an IPL contract with the Rajasthan Royals.

A Late Bloomer

While Yashasvi’s success brought financial stability to the family, Tejasvi’s dream of playing cricket had faded into the background. For years, he watched from the sidelines as his younger brother became one of India’s brightest prospects. It wasn’t until 2021 that the tide began to turn.

With his brother’s encouragement, Tejasvi decided to give cricket another chance. Away from the intense competition of Mumbai, he shifted to Tripura and began playing local cricket. Over time, his performances in club cricket earned him a spot in Tripura’s Ranji Trophy squad.

In October 2024, Tejasvi made his first-class debut against Meghalaya, marking a return to competitive cricket after a seven-year hiatus. His breakthrough came when he scored a gritty 82 against Baroda, led by Krunal Pandya, earning praise from teammates and opponents alike.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Role in Tejasvi’s Resurgence

Tejasvi credits his younger brother for inspiring his comeback. After his maiden first-class half-century, Yashasvi sent him a heartfelt message: “You sacrificed your dreams for us. Now it’s your time. Enjoy it.”

The emotional bond between the brothers has been the cornerstone of Tejasvi’s journey.

“I am playing cricket again because of my brother,” Tejasvi says. “He ensured that I had a second chance when I had almost given up.”

Entering the IPL 2025 Auction

Tejasvi’s decision to enlist for the IPL 2025 auction is the culmination of his years of struggle and perseverance. Entering with a base price of INR 30 lakhs, he hopes to attract the attention of franchises looking for a versatile player with a compelling story. As a left-handed batter and right-arm medium pacer, Tejasvi brings a skill set that could add depth to any IPL squad.

His performances in the Ranji Trophy have shown glimpses of his potential, and his age brings a level of maturity often sought by teams. However, his limited experience in high-pressure matches might be a factor that franchises weigh before bidding.

While Tejasvi’s cricketing journey is still in its early stages, his story is already one of the most inspiring narratives in this year’s auction. In a league that thrives on larger-than-life tales, his background of sacrifice and hard work sets him apart.

Whether or not he gets picked in the IPL 2025 auction, Tejasvi has already won a much bigger battle—the battle to reclaim his dreams. As he prepares to take the next big step in his career, he carries with him not just the hopes of his family, but the admiration of anyone who believes in the power of second chances.
