Meet Vaibhav Suryavanshi: 13-year-old Schoolkid becomes CROREPATI after getting Signed by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025 Auction

He is also the youngest cricketer to make a Ranji Trophy debut.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years, has been a springboard for budding talents and witnessed youngsters become overnight sensations.

The recent IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah served as a testament to that as a 13-year-old school kid became a crorepati after Rajasthan Royals decided to secure his services for INR 1.1 crore.

In the process, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the cricket prodigy from Bihar made history by entering the record books to be the youngest player to get picked by a team in an IPL auction.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the youngest cricketer to make Ranji Trophy debut

Suryavanshi made headlines when he made his debut at the astonishingly young age of 12 years and 284 days against Mumbai during the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season, setting a record as the youngest player in the tournament’s history. This incredible accomplishment surpassed records previously held by cricketing greats like Yuvraj Singh, who debuted at 15 years and 57 days, and Sachin Tendulkar, who began his career at 15 years and 230 days.

Suryavanshi’s brilliance shone further during the Youth Test series against Australia in Chennai, where he scored an explosive 104 runs off just 62 balls.

At 13 years and 188 days, he became the youngest player to score a century in the 170-year history of competitive cricket and also set a new benchmark as the fastest Indian to achieve a century at the youth level.

While his overall First-Class statistics may appear modest, Suryavanshi’s exceptional temperament and skill have already distinguished him. Despite his young age, his inclusion in the IPL auction indicates that franchises are focusing on identifying raw, untapped potential rather than solely relying on numbers.
