Rajasthan Royals (RR) were among the most consistent batters in the previous cycle, for they qualified for playoffs twice in three attempts. They also played in the final in the 2022 edition.
RR had one of the strongest squads in the competition, and even the young ones were immensely skilled, performing well in patches. One such player was Kuldeep Sen, who impressed in limited opportunities.
Playing for Rajasthan Royals, Kuldeep has snared 14 wickets at an average of 27.64 and a 17.21 in 12 IPL innings, including a four-wicket haul. He hasn’t got consistent chances due to the availability of other quality players but has played enough to show his superior skillsets.
Kuldeep Sen is a lanky pacer who can clock 140+ km/h, hit the hit deck hard and generate some uneven bounce. He hits the bat hard and can beat batters with his pace, as visible during his dismissals in the IPL.
He also gets some movement off the deck, making him an all-round speedster. Kuldeep’s lengths mostly remain on the shorter side, making him a quality option for the middle overs.
He has shown ample control over his lengths and can be used in other phases, even though the work is still in progress. His superior talent was one of the reasons why he was fast-tracked to the national setup and will keep improving from here on.

Rajasthan Royals have a problem of plenty ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Sanju Samson are sure retentions, whereas Riyan Parag, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Trent Boult are other solid options.
The biggest problem for RR is that Kuldeep has already made his India debut, even though he has only featured in a solitary game. Hence, they can’t retain him in the uncapped category, else he would have been a sure-shot retention.
RR might not use a retention slot on him, given they have better options. However, they can re-bid for him or use RTM if the price is reasonable in the auction.
Indian pacers are always in demand in the IPL auction, and Kuldeep Sen will also be on the radar of several IPL teams. He brings value in the middle overs, something not many Indian speedsters can boast of.
Further, Sen is only 27 and will be a long-term investment for any IPL side. He will improve from here on and can be a match-winner for any side.
His price will be much higher than the last auction when RR bought him at his base price. Expect Kuldeep to fetch a decent sum in the IPL 2025 auction, and if possible, RR will again chase him.
