Runners-up in three editions (2009, 2011, 2016), RCB will hope to go the extra distance this time around and finally break the jinx.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are one of the few franchises that are yet to lift the Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The recently-concluded IPL 2025 auction was thus a brilliant opportunity for the Bengaluru-based outfit to get a chance to revamp their squad and form a lethal attack.
Runners-up in three editions (2009, 2011, 2016), RCB will hope to go the extra distance this time around and finally break the jinx. They retained only three players – Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal – ahead of the auction for a combined sum of INR 37 crores and entered the auction with INR 83 crores.

RCB further bolstered their bowling department by adding the young Rasikh Dar for INR 6 crore after DC made them wait anxiously by enabling the RTM option but ultimately gave up, given the steep ask.
IPL 2025 Auction Day 2
RCB started the second day of the auction with the purchase of left-handed all-rounder Krunal Pandya and then decided to splurge north of INR 10 crores to get Bhuvneshwar Kumar. They then decided to activate their first RTM to get back Swapnil Singh for 50 lacs.
In the overseas department, RCB brought in explosive hitters Tim David and Romario Shepherd for steal deals. They however had 2 unused RTMs by the end of the auction.
