Maybe Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will release him after his underwhelming returns in the previous edition.
Quality is a term that goes automatically with Rachin Ravindra. There’s potential, a massive one. He is an all-format superstar destined to achieve big things in world cricket. However, his T20 career hasn’t been as flourishing as the other two formats in the initial phase.
Maybe Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will release him after his underwhelming returns in the previous edition. That said, Rachin’s skill sets are too good not to succeed in this format. Hence, several teams will go after him during the auction because he is a long-term investment.
We take you through three teams that might target Rachin Ravindra in the IPL 2025 auction.
Shikhar Dhawan has retired, and Punjab Kings (PBKS) might release the likes of Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh. Hence, they will have a couple of slots at the top and can target Rachin Ravindra.
He is a solid player of pace and spin and will be crucial in home games in Mullanpur, where the tracks have mostly been true. A shot-maker like Rachin will suit perfectly in PBKS’ plans.
Mumbai Indians (MI) have a solid Indian core but are likely to release Ishan Kishan. With Rohit, who is a terrific player of pace, at the top, MI would want someone who can build long innings and handle spin well.
That’s where they can try Ravindra, who ticks plenty of boxes by playing big knocks and shielding Rohit vs spin. The duo will form an ideal pair on home and away decks.
Delhi Capitals (DC) are all set to part ways with David Warner and Prithvi Shaw, their two openers in the previous cycle. Further, if they retain Jake Fraser-McGurk, DC would need someone who can protect him from spin since Jake is a pace-hitter.
That’s where Rachin can come in, for he will also provide variety to the top order, bringing his LHB factor. Even Rishabh Pant struggles vs spin, so having a solid spin-hitter at the top will do a world of good for DC.
