Apart from making a few shock releases, LSG can also look to keep a few players who look set to part ways with the franchise.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) didn’t have a great last season, for they couldn’t qualify for playoffs for the first time since their admission in 2022. They could only win seven matches and ended in the seventh position with 14 points.
While mega auctions always call for significant changes, LSG would have taken a few bold calls anyway. They had a few loopholes in their squad and won’t find a better time than the IPL 2025 auction to address those concerns.
Apart from making a few shock releases, LSG can also look to keep a few players who look set to part ways with the franchise. We try finding three players who might surprisingly be retained by them ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
Krunal Pandya looks set to be released by Lucknow Super Giants, for his performances weren’t good enough to warrant a retention. However, there’s still merit in retaining him.
Firstly, he is an all-rounder who provides value with both bat and ball and has vast experience playing in the league. Further, LSG look set to release KL Rahul and will need a captain, so Krunal, who has previously led the franchise, can be a candidate to take over.

Among the most talented domestic bowlers, Yudhvir Singh Charak has multiple reasons to press his case. He is a genuine speedster with massive potential to become an all-phase bowler, especially a middle-overs enforcer because he hits the bat hard.
Further, he is only 27 and will be a long-term investment for LSG and can serve them for years. LSG can retain him in the uncapped category by spending only INR 4 crores, which might be close to his IPL auction price.
Potential-wise, Arshin Kulkarni is among the most exciting all-rounders in the country, capable of achieving big things in world cricket. In a short span, he has shown his capabilities in domestic cricket and will only improve from here on.
He contributes with both bat and ball and pace-bowling all-rounders are not easy to find, which should tempt LSG to keep him ahead of the auction. He can be retained in the uncapped category at just INR 4 crores and will be a long-term deal for the Lucknow-based franchise.
