Who is Priyansh Arya? Uncapped Player Who Started a Bidding War Between PBKS and RCB in IPL 2025 Auction

Priyansh Arya came to the limelight for his big hitting in the recently concluded Delhi Premier League (DPL), a local T20 competition.

One of the most notable picks during the second day of the IPL 2025 auction was Priyansh Arya. Punjab Kings (PBKS) bought him for a whopping INR 3.80 crores after intense bidding from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

They were clear with their strategy and went hard for Priyansh before eventually getting him. He came to the limelight for his big hitting in the recently concluded Delhi Premier League (DPL), a local T20 competition.

He ended the tournament as the leading run-scorer, with 608 runs at an average of 67.55 and a strike rate of 198.69 in ten innings. He also scored four fifties and two centuries.

Playing for South Delhi Superstarz, Priyansh hit six sixes in an over against North Delhi Strikers in a century knock. He scored 120 runs in 50 balls, including ten boundaries and as many maximums, at a strike rate of 240.

Last year, he ended the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as Delhi’s leading run-scorer, with 222 runs at an average of 31.71 and a 166.91 strike rate in seven outings. He also hit two fifties with the best of 81.

He also started the fresh season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with a bang, hitting 102 runs in 43 deliveries, comprising five boundaries and ten maximums, at a strike rate of 237.21 in the opening game against Uttar Pradesh. He continued from where he left off in DPL.

Priyansh is a naturally attacking batter who opens the innings and can use the powerplay with his aggressive gear. His off-side game is strong, and he can hit spinners down the ground at will, as seen in the Delhi Premier League.

He trains under Sanjay Bhardwaj, the former coach of Gautam Gambhir. He opened up on following Gambhir in the nets when he was young.

Generally, the unknown commodities don’t earn a big amount in the mega auction due to several options available, but Priyansh’s superior talent grabbed everyone’s eyes. It is just a start for him; with his talent, Priyansh Arya should do big things at the IPL level.
