The four retained players bring a blend of experience, batting power, bowling variety, and all-rounder skills, with wicketkeeping also covered, as DC aims to bolster the squad further in the IPL 2025 auction.
For the IPL 2025 season, Delhi Capitals have opted for a mix of key players, retaining their spin duo, star overseas batsman, and a promising young wicketkeeper.
Delhi Capitals have retained four players but released former captain Rishabh Pant and other notable names.

The four retained players bring a mix of experience, batting power, bowling variety, and all-rounder skills, with wicketkeeping also covered, as DC aims to bolster the squad further in the IPL 2025 auction.
Their retentions are as follows:
Delhi Capitals have retained four players ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. As per the retention rules, teams are allowed to keep up to six players, with at least one being uncapped.
Abhishek Porel has been retained as the uncapped player, giving DC the option to use their Right to Match (RTM) for one capped player and one uncapped player, or alternatively, both RTMs on capped players during the auction.
It’s looking unlikely that DC will use their RTM card for Rishabh Pant. But if he happens to go for a surprisingly low price, they might consider bringing him back with the RTM. Still, the odds of that happening are very slim.
DC have solid options for their RTM, with players like Jake Fraser-McGurk and Rasikh Salam in consideration.

Jake Fraser-McGurk
Delhi Capitals faced a difficult choice between Tristan Stubbs and Jake Fraser-McGurk, ultimately selecting the South African, who also brings wicketkeeping skills. Stubbs’ versatility likely gave him the edge as DC finalized their retention list.
However, some feel Fraser-McGurk deserved a spot as well. At just 22, he’s viewed as a rising star with enormous potential. His breakout IPL 2024 season highlighted his talent, scoring 330 runs with an impressive strike rate of 234.04.
Rasikh Salam
The young pacer Rasikh Salam showcased his true potential at the recent Emerging Asia Cup T20, finishing as the highest wicket-taking pacer with 9 wickets at an impressive average of 10.3. Known for his pace and variations, Rasikh has proven himself as an all-phase pacer.
If Delhi Capitals are aiming to build an exciting pace unit, bringing Rasikh back would be a strong choice. They should aim to secure him via RTM if he’s available at a reasonable price.
They could also consider Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar, but Rasikh Salam appears to be higher in priority.
