KKR have used all their retention slots

Kolkata Knight Riders have retained six players ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. According to the retention rules, teams can keep up to six players, with at least one being uncapped.

The rules also state that a maximum of two uncapped players can be retained, while the remaining four must be capped. KKR has used all their slots by retaining Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Varun Chakravarthy as their capped players, and Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh as uncapped players.

Why KKR are not eligible to use the RTM card at the IPL 2025 auction

According to IPL rules, if a team retains fewer than six players, they can use the Right to Match (RTM) card for the slots left open after the retentions.

The rule says that,”The IPL franchises can retain a total of 6 players from their existing squad. This can be either via retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) option”.

However, Kolkata Knight Riders have retained the maximum allowed six players. As a result, they are not eligible to use the RTM card in the IPL 2025 auction.
