With just a week left for the IPL auction, Mumbai Indians must have decided who they will use their RTM card on. Despite his great domestic form, Anshul Kamboj might be left out.
Anshul Kamboj created history on Friday, November 15, by becoming only the third cricketer in Ranji Trophy history to take all ten wickets in a single innings. He achieved this feat with remarkable bowling figures of 30.1 overs, 9 maidens, 49 runs, and 10 wickets, against Kerala in the first innings.
At 23, Kamboj also became the sixth Indian to take all ten wickets in a first-class match, further cementing his place in cricketing history.

Kamboj, who made his IPL debut in 2024 with Mumbai Indians, was released by the franchise before the IPL 2025 auction. However, following his historic performance in the Ranji Trophy, he is likely to have caught the attention of Mumbai Indians as well as other franchises, who may now consider him for the upcoming season and will look to bid for him in the IPL 2025 auction.
Mumbai Indians have retained their five core players ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, including Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, and Tilak Varma. These players are central to the team’s strategy for the upcoming season.
Having retained all five capped players, Mumbai Indians now have one RTM card left. However, they can only use it on an uncapped player, as the IPL rules states that at least one uncapped player must be part of the six retentions or RTMs.
With one RTM card left, which can only be used on an uncapped player, Mumbai Indians still have several options to consider. Players like Nehal Wadhera, Akash Madhwal, and Anshul Kamboj are potential candidates, with Kamboj likely being the last in the order.
Nehal Wadhera is a strong candidate for Mumbai Indians’ RTM in the upcoming auction after impressing with 241 runs in 14 games in IPL 2023. Despite being under-utilised in the lower order in IPL 2024, scoring 109 runs, Mumbai will still look to secure him through RTM.
Akash Madhwal has impressed with his wicket-taking ability in both seasons with Mumbai Indians. With 19 wickets in 13 games, he could be a strong candidate for Mumbai’s RTM in the upcoming auction.
With just a week left for the IPL auction, Mumbai Indians must have decided who they will use their RTM card on. Despite his great domestic form, Anshul Kamboj might be left out.
However, if players like Nehal Wadhera and Akash Madhwal go for a high price, Mumbai may reconsider using their RTM on them, and Kamboj could become an option. But given his recent heroics, Kamboj may attract interest from other franchises and could end up being too expensive for Mumbai to use their RTM on.
