South African great AB de Villiers took the mickey out of his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper and friend, Virat Kohli, and his expressive and passionate form of celebrations on the field this Sunday (September 26).

As RCB broke their two-match losing streak at the start of the UAE leg of the IPL 2021 with a commanding victory over defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI), the mood within their dressing room was quite jovial.

Amidst that, De Villiers took the opportunity to mimic Kohli’s emotional antics which are on display after almost every wicket.

The RCB giant funnily recreated his captain’s celebrations in the team room as he hugged Kohli and laughed along doing an animated double hand fist-pump.

In a clip that went viral over social media only a few hours after RCB bundled out MI for just 111 and conquered the defending champions by 54 runs in Dubai, AB de Villiers was seen in a very cheerful mode in the RCB dressing room.

Initially waving his hand in the air Kohli-style, the legend went on to hug his captain gleefully and then did Kohli’s popular and animated fist-pump.

De Villiers even mimicked the expressions that Kohli tends to carry while doing his celebrations after the wicket.

Amusingly, the South African abruptly interrupted his own flow and said “stay calm guys. It’s just one game”, which presumably Kohli says to his players after such wins and having himself let his emotions come out.

Kohli was one of the heroes of RCB’s morale-boosting win over MI as he contributed a measured half-century (51) to help his team reach a fighting score of 165/6. Wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat (32) also played a vital cameo in an innings where Aussie star Glenn Maxwell (57) was the stand-out batter on show.

In the second half, Maxwell carried his wave of momentum forward and delivered a fantastic spell of 2/23. Experienced legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal (3/11) and right-arm pacer Harshal Patel (4/17) also dominated with the ball to secure victory for their team after two heavy losses.

Back to winning ways, RCB will next play Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday (September 29) in Dubai. Kohli’s men are now third in the IPL 2021 points table with six wins and four losses from their 10 games.
