Melbourne Renegades Women secured the WBBL 2024 title with a dramatic 7-run (DLS) victory over Brisbane Heat Women at the MCG, Melbourne.
The Renegades posted 141/9 in the final, powered by Hayley Matthews’ brilliant 69 off 61 balls. Rain disrupted the match, reducing Brisbane Heat’s target to 98 runs in 12 overs.

Despite a spirited chase, Brisbane Heat Women fell short by 7 runs, with Jess Jonassen’s valiant effort with 44 off 28 balls. Her innings kept Brisbane in contention, but the Renegades ultimately clinched a memorable triumph. Hayley Matthews, who also took two wickets, was named Player of the Match for her exceptional all-round performance.
Sophie Molineux, the skipper, though not impactful in the final, was crucial to the Renegades’ successful campaign.
