Bollywood Director’s Son Scripts History in Ranji Trophy: First Player to Score a Century and Double Century in Same Match

He achieved the feat during the match between Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.

During the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25, a Bollywood director’s son scripted history with his scintillating batting display in the Plate division match between Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.

Agni Chopra, son of renowned filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, in the process, became the first player ever in domestic cricket to achieve a rare feat.

Agni, who represents Mizoram in domestic cricket, is now the only player to score a century and double century in a single match.

Agni registered a remarkable knock of 110 runs off 138 balls in the first innings, which was followed by an impressive 238 runs from 209 balls in the second. Looking in excellent form, Agni’s innings were instrumental in Mizoram securing a massive 267-run victory.

Additionally, the talented left-hander also earned the Player of the Match award for his outstanding contribution.

Agni Chopra’s stellar batting can put him on the radar of IPL teams

Not only this season, Agni has looked in incredible form in domestic cricket in the previous season as well. The 25-year-old finished the 2023-24 season with a staggering tally of 939 runs from just six matches including five centuries and three fifties while averaging at an impressive 78.25 and scoring at an outstanding strike rate of 103.30.

He is already making waves in the cricket circuit by scoring tons of runs in domestic space and with the IPL 2025 mega auction around the corner, we can expect some teams to show interest in him and keep the young talent on their radar.
