He has been touted as a batting prodigy capable of achieving big things in future.
A newly recruited Chennai Super Kings (CSK) prodigy will miss the next edition of the U-19 World Cup due to missing the age cut by 3 days only. It’s unfortunate for him and India U-19 since his inclusion would have boosted their chances significantly.
Andre Siddharth, the 18-year-old batting star, was born on August 28, 2006, but the cutoff date to be eligible for the tournament is September 1, 2006, or less. Hence, he won’t be able to participate in a competition where young talents get a platform to flaunt their superior skill sets.
Siddharth has been touted as a batting prodigy capable of achieving big things in future. The 18-year-old has shown his expertise at such a young age, debuting for Tamil Nadu in First Class cricket and starting his career with a bang by batting exceptionally well against some of the finest domestic attacks.

Making his FC debut against Saurashtra, he has 372 runs at an average of 93 in six outings, including four fifties. He has yet to register a single-digit score in First Class cricket and excelling in the Ranji Trophy is not easy since the attacks are well-versed in the conditions.
During the IPL 2025 auction, Chennai Super Kings bought Andre Siddharth for his base price of INR 30 Lakhs. Generally, CSK don’t invest in young and raw products since they believe the IPL doesn’t reward grooming talents, but their acquisition of Siddharth shows how much talent he possesses.
Siddharth is a local man and would know the conditions quite well in CSK’s home matches. While he might not start from the first game, the team management might look to provide him with some opportunity at some stage of the tournament.
His T20 game is pretty unknown at this stage, for he hasn’t made his debut in white-ball formats for his domestic side. But given his raw talent, success is bound to come sooner or later.
He had a rare failure against Pakistan U-19 yesterday in the Youth Asia Cup. Batting at No.3, Siddharth could only score 15 runs, and his team lost the game by 43 runs.
