Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter hits a fantastic ton, propelling his team to a good total in Ranji Trophy

He ended as the leading run-scorer of his team in the second dig and helped Vidarbha reach 366 after a poor batting show in the first innings.

A Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter has hit a magnificent ton during the Ranji Trophy fixture between Vidarbha and Andhra in Nagpur. The player is among the most exciting young batters in the domestic arena and came up with a timely century to help his team get something substantial on the board.

Atharva Taide, the left-handed batter of Vidarbha, notched up a brilliant 118 in 170 deliveries, comprising 15 boundaries and two maximums while opening the innings. While he couldn’t make a big score in the first innings, getting out on 17, the southpaw ensured not to miss the second opportunity.

He ended as the leading run-scorer of his team in the second dig and helped Vidarbha reach 366 after a poor batting show in the first innings. Taide flaunted his range, scoring runs all around the ground and against each Andhra bowler.

His knock ensured a bright start for Vidharbha, who desperately needed batters to step up in this innings. He eventually got out in the 55th over, but not before putting his team in a comfortable position.

Andhra require 318 runs to win the contest

After batting first in the game, Vidarbha could only get to 118 and were all-out – thanks to a complete bowling show from Andhra bowlers. Later, Andhra couldn’t last long, either, getting bundled on 167, with Harsh Dubey and Akshay Wakhare snaring four wickets each.

However, Andhra gained a handy 49-run lead after both teams’ first innings. Then, in the second innings, Vidarbha managed to score 366 on the back of a terrific century by Atharva Taide.

Aman Mokhade (53) and Danish Malewar (61) also hit the fifties to help Vidarbha get a decent score on the second attempt. Tripurana Vijay got as many as four wickets, while Lalith Mohan dismissed three batters for Andhra in this innings.

Andhra started well in the final innings, requiring 318 runs, for their openers stitched a vital 52-run stand before Hanuma Vihari (22) lost his wicket in the 13th over. The match is shaping up for a tight finish, with Andhra needing another 255 runs to win with nine wickets in hand.
