Former Punjab Kings (PBKS) bowler wreaks havoc with magnificent 10-wicket haul in Ranji Trophy game

Baroda couldn’t have asked for a better start to a fresh season of the prestigious Ranji Trophy, winning the opening game by 84 runs.

A former Punjab Kings (PBKS) bowler starred with the ball to help his team register a thumping victory during the fresh season of Ranji Trophy. He bowled brilliantly in both innings to start the season with a bang.

Bhargav Bhatt, the left-arm spinner of Baroda, bowled beautifully to take as many as ten wickets in the game and help his team register a resounding win over a strong Mumbai outfit. He took four wickets in the first game, dismissing Ayush Mhatre, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, and Mohit Avasthi.

He bowled even better in the second innings and wreaked havoc with a magnificent six-wicket haul to bundle Mumbai on a mere 177 in the second dig. He took 6/55, dismissing Ayush Mhatre, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Siddhesh Lad, Shams Mulani, and Shardul Thakur to help Baroda register an emphatic win over Mumbai to open the season.

Earlier in the year, Bhatt was again unplayable for Mumbai, registering figures of 7/112 and 7/200 in the quarterfinal, even though his team couldn’t win. Surely, he knows a few tricks about how to keep Mumbai batters in check and enjoys playing against them.

Baroda win the opening game by 84 runs against Mumbai

Baroda couldn’t have asked for a better start to a fresh season of the prestigious Ranji Trophy, winning the opening game by 84 runs. Batting first, they scored 290 runs – thanks to terrific fifties from Mitesh Patel (86) and Atit Seth (66).

While bowling in the first innings, they bundled Mumbai on a mere 214, with Bhargav Bhatt taking 4/53. Abhimanyu Singh (3/19) and Mahesh Pithiya (2/55) also bowled well, playing a crucial role in helping Baroda gain an early lead.

During their second innings, Baroda could only get to 185, courtesy of Krunal Pandya’s fighting fifty when the top order failed collectively. However, their bowlers churned out an even better performance in the fourth innings, bundling Mumbai on 177.

Barring Bhargav, who took six wickets, Mahesh Pithiya dismissed two batters to help his team get over the line. Baroda will now face Services in their next encounter at the Palam A Stadium in Delhi, starting Friday (October 18).
