Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 13-year-old cricketer from Bihar, made history by becoming the youngest player ever signed in the IPL. He was acquired by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.1 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
This marks a huge milestone in his young career, with Rajasthan Royals securing him after a bidding war with Delhi Capitals. Vaibhav will now have the opportunity to represent the Royals under the mentorship of coach Rahul Dravid.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already made history by becoming the youngest batter to score an international century in a Youth Test. At just 13 years and 288 days, he scored 104 off 62 balls for India U-19 against Australia U-19 in Chennai. This achievement adds to his growing list of impressive feats at a very young age.
Sanjiv, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s father, shared that Rajasthan Royals had invited his son for trials in Nagpur, where he was given a challenge by batting coach Vikram Rathour to score 17 runs in one over. Vaibhav rose to the occasion by hitting three sixes to meet the target. During the trials, he went on to impress further, hitting a total of eight sixes and four fours, showcasing his powerful batting skills.
“Rajasthan Royals had called him for trials in Nagpur. Vikram Rathour sir (batting coach) gave a match situation where he had to score 17 in an over. Bituwa ne 3 chakka mara. Trials mein aat chakka aur char chauwaa mara (He smashed three sixes. At trials, he hit eight sixes and four fours),” Sanjiv told PTI.
Currently, Vaibhav is in Dubai, where he is competing in the U19 Asia Cup. India’s first match will be against Pakistan on November 30 at the ICC Academy Ground. With a promising career ahead, Vaibhav’s IPL signing is just the beginning of what could be a bright future in cricket.
