England Squad for Hong Kong Cricket Sixes 2024: Ravi Bopara to Ed Barnard

England are one of the 12 teams that will take part in the tournament from November 1 to November 3 in Mong Kok. They have been drawn in Pool B with Australia and Nepal.

For the tournament, England have announced a strong squad, featuring experienced international players like Ravi Bopara and Samit Patel. While some players have not represented England, they bring a wealth of domestic experience to the team.

Let’s analyse each player separately and discuss them in detail from England squad.

Ravi Bopara

Ravi Bopara brings a lot of experience to the team and will captain the side in this tournament. As a batting all-rounder, he will play an important role with both bat and ball.

He has played 13 Test matches for England, scoring 575 runs. He scored 2,695 runs and picked up 40 wickets in 120 ODIs. He also played 38 T20Is in which he scored 711 runs and grabbed 16 wickets. Bopara has loads of experience in franchise cricket having played in nearly every top league around the world.

At the domestic level, the 39-year-old has played 221 first-class matches, 323 List A games, and 478 T20s. In these formats, he has scored 12,821 runs and 257 wickets in first-class cricket, 9,845 runs and 248 wickets in List A, and 9,486 runs and 291 wickets in T20s.

Ethan Brookes

Ethan Brookes is a 23-year-old bowling all-rounder, who is yet to make his international appearance for England, but has played for Warwickshire in domestic cricket.

In first-class cricket, he has played in 10 matches scored 366 runs and taken eight wickets so far. In List A, he has played in 34 matches taken 15 wickets and scored 469 runs. In T20s, he has appeared in 14 matches scored 315 runs and taken 11 wickets.

James Coles

James Coles is an all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls left-arm orthodox spin. Although he has not played for England yet, he plays for Sussex at domestic level and also plays for Southern Brave in The Hundred.

So far, Coles has had experience in all formats. In 35 first-class matches, he scored 1,872 runs along with 37 wickets. He scored 320 runs and picked up 21 wickets in 20 List A matches. In T20s, he played 35 matches, scored 520 runs and has taken 22 wickets.

Jordan Thompson

Jordan Thompson, 28, is a talented bowling all-rounder who is yet to represent England but has built a solid reputation by playing in various leagues and domestic cricket, mainly for Yorkshire.

Jordan Thompson has played 57 first-class matches, where he took 170 wickets and scored 1,534 runs. In T20 cricket, he has played 115 games, took 119 wickets and scored 1,087 runs. So far, he has only played one List A match.

Samit Patel

Samit Patel is another very experienced player, just behind Ravi Bopara in the squad, and he has also played for England. Patel is an all-rounder who has featured in 6 Tests, 36 ODIs, and 18 T20Is. In Tests, he scored 151 runs and took 7 wickets. In ODIs, he has scored 482 runs and took 24 wickets, while in T20Is, he scored 189 runs and picked up 7 wickets.

Like Bopara, Samit has a wealth of experience in both domestic and franchise cricket. The 39-year-old plays for Nottinghamshire in domestic competitions. He has played in 231 first-class matches and scored 12,692 runs and taken 357 wickets. In 253 List A games, he has 6,342 runs and 236 wickets. Apart from that, he has played 413 T20 matches with 6,673 runs and 352 wickets.

With his experience and skills, Samit Patel will be important for the team with both bat and ball in the tournament.

Alex Davies

The 30-year-old Alex Davies is a wicketkeeper who hasn’t played for England yet, but has a lot of experience in domestic cricket. He started his career at Lancashire and now plays for Warwickshire. He has also played for Southern Brave in The Hundred.

In first-class cricket, Davies has played 133 matches and scored 6,974 runs. In List A matches, he has scored 1,390 runs in 51 matches. In T20 matches, he has scored 3,042 runs in 150 matches.

Ed Barnard

The 28-year-old Ed Barnard is a bowling all-rounder who hasn’t played for England but plays domestic cricket for Worcestershire. He has played 120 first-class matches, 78 List A matches, and 117 T20 matches.

In first-class cricket, he has taken 315 wickets and scored 5,075 runs. In List A matches, he has taken 95 wickets and scored 1,970 runs. In T20 matches, he has taken 61 wickets and scored 901 runs.
