Former RCB analyst lashes out at Gautam Gambhir, questions prior experience as coach after India’s shock series whitewash against New Zealand

Gambhir is now facing severe backlash after the dismal results.

The Indian team suffered a historic loss after they went down fighting in the final IND vs NZ Test in Mumbai and in the process, conceded their first-ever series whitewash at home after the visitors secured the series 3-0.

Not only that, but New Zealand also managed to break India’s stellar 12-year unbeatable record in their own backyard when they defeated the Men in Blue in the second game in Pune.

The Indian players and especially coach Gautam Gambhir are now facing severe backlash for the dismal results. Echoing on the same lines, former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) analyst Prasanna (popularly known as Pdogg) questioned Gambhir’s coaching experience and his team of foreign coaches which includes the likes of bowling coach Morne Morkel and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate.

Notably, Gambhir has never technically coached a team but served as a mentor in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchises.

While it was extremely disheartening to see the Indian team go down, it was surprising that Rohit Sharma and Co succumbed on pitches that were rank-turners, curated specially to assist the spin-heavy Indian team.

Prasanna also highlighted the same and took a dig at the foreign coaches, claiming that they will not exactly be able to help the Indian batters tackle spin and that other meritious coaches should be given a chance.

In a video on YouTube, he said, “Foreign coaching staff can’t help Indian batters play on rank turners. How can BCCI select coaches without any certification or prior experience (Gambhir), overlooking other hardworking coaches.”

The losses couldn’t have come at a worse time, when India is gearing up to travel to Down Under for the marquee Border Gavaskar Trophy, slated to start later this month from November 22.
