Harry Brook Rises Past 3 India Batters to Claim No.2 Spot in ICC Test Batting Rankings Below Joe Root

Harry Brook has risen 11 places to jump to the second spot in the latest ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings.

England batter Harry Brook has reclaimed his position in the top five of the latest ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings after a sensational triple century in the first Test match of the ongoing series against Pakistan.

Widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents in international cricket, Brook faced a challenging phase when he found himself out of form and dropped from the top 10 Test batter’s rankings.

However, he made a stunning comeback, reclaiming the second position after his extraordinary innings of 317 runs off just 322 balls against Pakistan in the first Test of the series.

Brook’s impressive performance against Pakistan highlights his affinity for the Asian side, as he celebrated his fourth Test century on their soil during this match. With an astounding average of 113.4 in Test matches played in Pakistan, which ranks as the highest for any batter with a minimum of 500 Test runs, it comes as no surprise that Brook has firmly established his place among cricket’s elite.

After being ranked 13th as of October 1, 2024, Brook has surged 11 positions to reach number two in the Test rankings, surpassing notable Indian players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant.

Now, Brook sits just behind fellow countryman Joe Root who has cemented his place at number one, while Jaiswal, Kohli, and Pant all remain in the top 10.
