KKR star set to remain uncapped after viral infection rules him out of India v Bangladesh 3rd T20I

It is good news for KKR team management and fans.

A Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star will remain uncapped after not being selected for the third T20I between India and Bangladesh. He was initially supposed to make his India debut in this fixture because the team would have rested a few players after winning the series.

Harshit Rana, a revelation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, has not debuted for India yet because he was unavailable for selection in the third T20I. The official handle of BCCI posted an update, confirming he didn’t travel with the team due to a viral infection.

“UPDATE: Mr. Harshit Rana was unavailable for selection for the third T20I due to a viral infection and did not travel with the team to the stadium.” read the official statement.

It is good news for KKR team management and fans, for Harshit can now be retained as an uncapped player ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. For the uncapped player, a team has to pay only INR 4 crores, and given the quality Harshit possesses, getting him at such a low price is nothing less than a steal, for his auction value would be much higher.

India look to clean sweep Bangladesh in Hyderabad

The Indian team has been as comprehensive as a side can get in the first two T20Is, registering big wins in both matches. They won the first game by seven wickets in Gwalior, taking only 11.5 overs to chase the target of 128 to gain an early lead in the rubber.

Later in the second match, India registered an 86-run win in Delhi after making a whopping 221/9 in the first innings. Then, they restricted Bangladesh to a mere 135/9 – thanks to a complete bowling effort from bowlers.

They have started the third T20I on a positive note, winning the toss and electing to bat first. It would provide them an opportunity to test their bowlers in the second innings, which would help in the long run.

If India win this match, they will complete a clean sweep in T20Is after defeating Bangladesh 2-0 in the Test series. They have made only one change from the previous game, with Ravi Bishnoi coming in for Arshdeep Singh.
