Lockie Ferguson has sent a timely reminder about his match-winning ability with a scintillating hat-trick just before the IPL 2025 Auction.
Lockie Ferguson reminded the fans of his match-winning ability with a stunning hat-trick during the second T20I between Sri Lanka and New Zealand on Sunday. The former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) speedster delivered a fiery spell that left Sri Lanka reeling and reinforced his reputation as a genuine match-winner, just weeks before the IPL 2025 Auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25.
Ferguson’s hat-trick began with the dismissal of Kusal Perera on the final ball of the sixth over, caught behind by the wicketkeeper. Bowling at a blistering pace, Ferguson trapped Kamindu Mendis leg-before on the first delivery of the eighth over, clocking a searing 143 kph.
He completed his hat-trick in style, removing Charith Asalanka with another fast delivery, once again finding the edge for a catch behind. This went down the leg side but Asalanka unfortunately nicked it.
At the time of his game-changing spell, Ferguson had reduced Sri Lanka to 34/4, playing a crucial role in defending New Zealand’s low total of 108. By the 14th over, Sri Lanka were struggling at 74/6, with Ferguson’s impact still looming large. His figures read a remarkable 2-0-7-3.
