Highest T20 Total Ever: Baroda Tops the List After Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Carnage Against Sikkim

They amassed a whopping 349/5 in their allotted 20 overs, surpassing Zimbabwe’s record of the highest team score in a T20 innings.

Baroda scripted history during their team’s latest fixture in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Sikkim by registering the highest total in T20 cricket. They amassed a whopping 349/5 in their allotted 20 overs, surpassing Zimbabwe’s record of the highest team score in a T20 innings.

Zimbabwe had compiled 344/4 against the Gambia in October earlier this year, but they could hold the record for only a shade over one month. Baroda hit the most sixes (37) in a T20 innings, again breaking Zimbabwe’s 27 sixes record against the Gambia.

Baroda is also the first side from the Indian circuit to score 300+ total in the T20 format, crossing the 300-run barrier in just 17.2 overs, showing how explosive and dominant they were with their batting approach. Baroda must win by 160+ runs to qualify for the knockouts without depending on other results, and they have surely taken a bold step in that direction in the first innings.

Bhanu Pania scores a century; three other batters score 50+

The chief destructor in the carnage was Bhanu Pania, amassing a fabulous ton while batting at No.3. He scored 134 runs in only 51 balls, including five boundaries and 15 maximums, at a strike rate of 262.75.

Barring him, Abhimanyu Singh (53), Shivalik Sharma (55), and Vishnu Solanki (50) scored quickfire half-centuries to propel Baroda to a massive total. As many as four batters scored 50+ runs, with one converting it into a century in this run-fest where bowlers were just coming to get hit.

During the chase, Sikkim have lost six wickets inside 17 overs while scoring only 63 runs. Nothing has gone right for them in this game and will suffer a massive defeat.

Meanwhile, Baroda will receive a huge boost after this thumping victory and qualify for the knockouts. It took a special effort from Baroda to advance to the next stage.
