Samson's recent ton against Bangladesh came after quite a few disappointing outings.
India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson recently slammed a fiery century during the series finale between India and Bangladesh.
Sanju’s blistering knock of 111 (47) helped India post a mammoth total of 297 for 6 and eventually seal a massive win by 133 runs. In the process, the Men in Blue secured a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20I leg, after outclassing the Bangla Tigers 2-0 in the Test series.
However, Samson’s performance came after quite a few disappointing outings.
Sanju kept wickets in the Bangladesh T20I series and opened the innings for India. However, he could not make most of the chances initially, perishing after brisk starts.
Samson also came into the series after scoring successive ducks against Sri Lanka and needed runs to back his case.
This clearly showed the Indian team management’s willingness to back its players amidst intense competition and limited slots.

Following Samson’s knock, an Indian team newbie opened up on how he was pleased with the management’s style.
Jitesh Sharma, who is yet to become a mainstay and mostly plays in a backup role due to a number of choices in the wicketkeepeing position, felt optimistic about his chances too.
India are spoilt for wicketkeeping choices with the likes of Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, along with candidates like Ishan Kishan and Dhruv Jurel waiting on the sidelines.
Echoing on the same lines, Jitesh told TOI, “I understand how his first two innings didn’t go well, but I was hoping he would score because I’ve seen Sanju’s hard work, and he had a good IPL season too. It was good to see the Indian team back Sanju and give him opportunities to play. Seeing that gives hope to those who are not in the playing XI, knowing that when their time comes, they will receive the same kind of support”.
