Mashrafe Mortaza tests positive for COVID-19
Mashrafe Mortaza, former captain of the Bangladesh Cricket team, has been tested positive for COVID-19, along with his mother in law.
In a span of a week, we have now seen two International Cricketers contract the virus, a big blow to Cricket fans all around the world. Last week, it was Shahid Afridi who had been infected. Thankfully, he is on his way to recovery.

Mortaza, the Narail born Bangladeshi all rounder was suffering from fever on Thursday after which he gave his samples for testing. Although the test results were positive, it has been reported that Mortaza’s health is in good condition. He is currently being treated at his home in isolation.

According to the Dhaka Tribune, the source close to the developments has also informed that his family is absolutely fine. “Mashrafe complained of fever on Thursday night. On Friday his sample for COVID-19 test was collected and the result showed positive (today). He is doing well at the moment and his family is also fine.”
Mashrafe Mortaza has come forward to help the poor and needy people in the span of the lockdown. During the month of March, he lent help to as many as 300 families in Narail, his birthplace, and the Lohagara upozila. Apart from that, the pacer had donated half his current salary playing for the national side to help the nation fight the pandemic.
More than 1 lakh cases have been registered in Bangladesh with 1425 people losing their lives. Currently, around 64 thousand cases are active with more than 40000 people recovering from the disease as well. The government is contemplating initiating another period of lockdown to get the situation back in control.
Mortaza last played for Bangladesh in March during the series against Zimbabwe, which was also his last series as captain. Since then, there have been a lot talks about his retirement from the game. However, the 36-year-old is yet to hang his boots and wishes to continue playing the sport. The fans will now be hoping for him to recover from the virus soon.
