He recently took his 300th Test wicket.
In the latest release of the ICC Test Rankings, talismanic India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has lost his No.1 spot. Bumrah’s reign at the top has now been ended by a Punjab Kings (PBKS) and South Africa pacer.
Kagiso Rabada, who was bought by PBKS at the IPL 2022 auction, claimed the apex position after enjoying stellar form for the Proteas where the right-arm speedster took his 300th Test wicket during South Africa’s recent seven-wicket triumph over Bangladesh in Mirpur.
Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, failed to take a single wicket in the second Test against New Zealand in Pune and has dropped two places to third, behind Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who has now moved up to second.

Sensational young India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the main beneficiary of the recent rankings as he gained one place to move to a career-high third on the list for Test batters following contributions of 30 and 77 against the Kiwis.
For veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin it wasn’t good news as has dropped two spots to be fourth with Australia skipper Pat Cummins rounding up the top five among bowlers. Ashwin had a subpar showing in the first two Tests against the Kiwis, managing a total of only 6 wickets across four innings.
India’s Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin however continue to hold strong positions as the top-ranked Test all-rounders, with Jadeja at number one and Ashwin at number two. Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan, however, made a notable impression this week by climbing two spots to third place after delivering solid performances with both bat and ball against South Africa.
