Dan Lawrence did not have much to do on Day one of the first Test as the English bowlers decimated the Sri Lankan batting lineup in the first innings, restricting them to a score of just 135 runs. The visitors ended the day with a score of 127 runs for the loss of two wickets, trailing Sri Lanka by just eight runs. Lawrence is expected to be the next man in for the visitors, coming in at number five.

Dan Lawrence plays for the Essex County Cricket Club. He has played 74 first class matches and has scored 3948 runs at an average of just over 37. He has ten hundreds and 18 half-centuries to his name on the first class circuit. Lawrence can also roll his arm on a few occasions, as he has picked up nine first class wickets so far.
