The Ranji Trophy 2021-22 knockouts will be played across five different grounds in Bengaluru, with the quarter-finals set to begin on June 6.
The 87th edition of the Ranji Trophy – India’s premier first-class competition – is approaching its business end, with the quarterfinals set to be played from June 6 to June 10.
Seven of the eight teams in the quarterfinals – Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, Karnataka, Mumbai, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh – secured their qualification by topping their respective Elite Groups. Jharkhand made the eight spot after securing a win over Nagaland, the Plate Group toppers, in the pre-quarter final clash in Kolkata (on virtue of their first innings lead after a drawn result).
The first leg of the competition was played from February 17 to March 16, before the Indian Premier League 2022 was staged. For the first time ever, the Ranji Trophy matches will be played in June.
Saurashtra are the defending champions, having lifted the title in 2019-20. The 2020-21 edition was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic.
