The first round of the tournament is slated to begin on November 23 with the Final being played on December 15.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) recently announced the probable squad for the upcoming short format domestic tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). The first round of the tournament is slated to begin on November 23 with the Final being played on December 15.

Notably, released Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) stars have been named in the 28-member probable squad for SMAT 2024.

KKR’s Shreyas Iyer and DC’s Prithvi Shaw, who weren’t retained by their respective franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 auction will look to make their performances count in the tournament before the IPL season next year.

Interestingly, Prithvi Shaw has returned to the Mumbai cricket team after being dropped during the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament owing to fitness reasons.

Mumbai will open their SMAT 2024 campaign against Goa

The Mumbai squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy features seasoned Indian cricketers like Ajinkya Rahane, Shams Mulani, and Shardul Thakur. It also includes rising stars such as 21-year-old Suryansh Shedge and 19-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who made his IPL debut with Kolkata Knight Riders this year. This lineup reflects a balanced blend of experience and youthful energy in Mumbai’s team.
