All-rounder Marco Jansen and fast bowler Gerald Coetzee are back in the Test squad for the first time since last summer’s series against India.
“It’s also pleasing to welcome back Marco and Gerald to the Test side. Both have worked incredibly hard during their conditioning programmes, and it’s great to see them back in the fold, ready to contribute to the team,” Shukri Conrad said.
The pace attack for South Africa’s upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka will feature Kagiso Rabada, Dane Paterson, and Wiaan Mulder. Rabada is a key figure in the fast bowling unit, while Paterson and Mulder complete the pace lineup.
In the spin department, Keshav Maharaj and Senuran Muthusamy have been named as the two frontline spinners for the series. Maharaj is a seasoned left-arm spinner, while Muthusamy adds depth to the spin options.

South Africa are aiming for their first-ever World Test Championship (WTC) final appearance and needs to win all four home Tests – two against Sri Lanka and two against Pakistan – to guarantee a spot in the final. However, they could still make it with three wins out of four, depending on results elsewhere.
The two-Test series will begin in Durban on November 27, with the teams then moving to Gqeberha for the second Test starting on December 5.
