Ricky Ponting handpicks Rajasthan Royals star as one of the most watchable Indian batters alongside Rohit, Kohli and Gill

In a chat with Sky Sports, Nasser Hussain and Ricky Ponting went head-to-head, exchanging tough questions in a fun and spirited conversation.

They discussed on the topics such as their favourite venue, the best player they played alongside, memorable sledging moments, any career regrets, their favorite current player to watch, and the toughest opponent they ever faced.

When asked about his favorite current players to watch, Ricky Ponting said he enjoys watching quite a few Indian stars such as Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Virat Kohli. He also expressed admiration for Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson, praising his batting style and approach to the game in T20s.

“You can nearly mention the whole Indian batting lineup. Let’s start with Rohit, you think about Shubman Gill. I like watching him play. Think about Rishabh Pant. I like watching Rishabh Pant play. And you’ve got Virat somewhere in the middle of that. So there’s a lot of them that you could mention. I don’t know how much you seen him of a guy called Sanju Samson, in T20 cricket. He’s a lovely player to watch when he’s up and about and going as well,” Ponting said.

Naseer Hussain picks Rohit Sharma as his current favorite player

Nasser Hussain expressed his admiration for Rohit Sharma when asked about his favorite player. He noted that batting is incredibly challenging, yet Rohit makes it look effortless. Hussain mentioned how a batter often feels rushed while batting, but Rohit seems to have all the time in the world to play his shots, particularly praising his pool shot.

I would say, I like Rohit Sharma, I have to be honest. I just think batting is so hard. It’s such a difficult ask, but Rohit makes it look so easy. Batting I always felt rushed when you’re facing any bowling, you feel a bit like you’re out of time. Rohit seems to have so much time to play a shot, to play that pull shot that he plays or whatever. So Joe Root for England in World Cricket, Rohit Sharma,” Naseer said.
