Rohit Sharma and Co will face their biggest challenge in the World Test Championship Cycle (2023-25) when they lock horns with Australia in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).
India and Australia have shared a heated rivalry in the recent past, especially during Virat Kohli’s tenure as skipper.
Now, ahead of the highly-anticipated BGT starting in November, Aussie players named the Indian cricketer who sledges the most and surprisingly it was not the animated, aggressive Kohli.
BGT’s official broadcaster Star Sports posted a video on their social media handles where Australian players Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazelwood, Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, Usman Khawaja, Travis Head, and Marnus Labuschagne revealed the name of the India star.
The Aussie stars made a unanimous decision and chose dynamic wicketkeep-batter Rishabh Pant, who is known for his funny antics behind the wicket.

Rishabh Pant has been involved in several banters with Australian cricket stars over the years. His first visit to Australia during the 2018-19 series saw him and then-Australian Test captain Tim Paine engage in the famous ‘babysitter’ banter. Paine humorously asked Pant if he could babysit for him and his wife after the series. It was followed by Paine’s wife sharing a photo on Instagram with Pant and their children. The post quickly gained attention and became a memorable moment in cricket history.
Pant recently shared his approach to sledging while keeping wicket.
“Nobody plans and do it. But I don’t like it when someone does it, so I sledge politely. They were saying things like ‘Big MS is here, ‘Come and play T20 cricket in Hobart, you’ll get a good apartment, babysit my kids’. I also said a few things,” said Pant.
Speaking about Pant’s performance in the longest format, he recently made a return to red-ball cricket during the Bangladesh Test series last month. He made a resounding comeback, slamming his sixth Test century in the second Test at Kanpur and levelled former India skipper MS Dhoni for most Test tons by an Indian wicketkeeper.
