His brother was recently involved in a car accident.
A talented India batter recently slammed a scintillating double ton in the ongoing Irani Cup match between Mumbai and Rest of India.
Dynamic right-hander Sarfaraz Khan, who made headlines after becoming the first cricketer from Mumbai to hit a double century in Irani Cup dedicated half of his knock to his injured brother.
Sarfaraz’s brother Musheer Khan, who is a big name in the domestic circuit suffered a neck injury after being involved in a car accident. Musheer was also slated to feature in the match but unfortunately got ruled out due to the mishap.
Musheer was involved in an accident while traveling to Lucknow with his father and two others in an SUV. According to eyewitnesses and a member of the Lucknow Police traffic department, the vehicle hit a divider and flipped over.
Following the stellar knock, Sarfaraz Khan told reporters, “Yes, it has been an emotional week for me. I had promised my family and teammates that if I am set, I will score 200 — a hundred for me and hundred for my brother (Musheer).”
Sarfaraz’s 222 runs helped Mumbai to score a mammoth 537 all out on Day 3 of the match.
Sarfaraz was handed his debut earlier this year during the five-match Test series against England and was a part of the India squad in the recently-concluded Bangladesh Test series.
However, he did not get a chance to feature in the playing XI and was released by the management to play in the Irani Cup.
He is now once again knocking on the doors of the national selectors with his recent performance and with a long Test schedule ahead for India, the 26-year-old might soon be brought back into the scheme of things.
