Harshal Patel produced a masterclass of death bowling against Mumbai Indians on Saturday night, but Suryakumar Yadav's composed finish helped Mumbai Indians post 151 on board.
Suryakumar Yadav and Harshal Patel engaged in an interesting duel on Saturday night in the RCB v MI game, but the highlight of the head-to-head was an interesting DRS call made by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Harshal Patel generating incredible dip off his slower deliveries is well documented now, but in this particular instance, the RCB bowler bowled one that dipped so much that Suryakumar Yadav was completely befuddled by it.
The slower full toss in the 18th over dipped, beat Suryakumar Yadav’s bat, and smashed straight into his chest. Even as the Mumbai batter stood slightly dazed, RCB players got together to ponder a review.
In a bizarre sequence of events, RCB’s review was taken upstairs by the onfield umpire and multiple replays rolled in as fans zoomed in to catch a glimpse of what really happened. The ball had swerved in the air and dipped past Suryakumar’s bat and crashed into his chest. The batter was crouched in his stance while trying to scoop the ball and as such in line with the wickets.
Almost an NBW. Nipple before wicket.

Contrary to what several thought when RCB took the review, it was incredibly close. The ball was hitting the batter in line with the stumps but ball-tracking revealed that the ball hitting the stumps was umpire’s call. The onfield umpire had ruled it not out and Suryakumar Yadav continued to thrive.

Suryakumar Yadav walked in at 60/2 in the innings, but watched helplessly as Wanindu Hasaranga made a mockery of the middle-order, leaving Mumbai Indians reeling at 62/5. The flurry of wickets meat Suryakumar Yadav had to stabilise the innings with the tail and then take off, something he did with aplomb. In the last 72 runs scored by Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav made 56 runs, remaining unbeaten on 68* in just 37 balls at the end of the innings.
