RCB Batter delivers a one-man show: Scores a fighting century on Day 1 of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season

The team could have been in an abysmal condition had he not played a timely knock and scored a ton with the bat.

A Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star has notched up a magnificent century on the first day of the Ranji Trophy 2024/25. The batter played his shots everywhere around the ground and showed his class with the willow.

Suyash Prabhudessai, the batter of RCB, scored a brilliant 120 in 190 balls, including 17 fours, while opening the innings for Goa against Manipur at the Goa Cricket Association Academy. The wickets were tumbling around him, but Suyash held his end strongly and played a prudent knock.

He scored runs against all opponent bowlers and ran hard between the wickets during this knock. 43.33% of his runs came via ones and twos, showing Suyash was wise enough to find gaps and rotate the strike.

He eventually got out on the first delivery of the 63rd over, with Ronald M getting a prize wicket, but Suyash had done his job by then. The team could have been in an abysmal condition had he not played a timely knock and scored a ton with the bat.

Goa end with 302/7 after the first day

After losing the toss, Goa were asked to bat first on the first day of a fresh season of the Ranji Trophy. However, they couldn’t start well, for they lost their opener Rohan Kadam on a score of 4 in the eighth over.

Manthan Khutkar, who came to bat at No.3, couldn’t last long, losing his wicket in the 14th over to put Goa in trouble. Then, Siddharth KV was dismissed on a low score, and Goa desperately needed a partnership.

Finally, a 94-run stand between Suyash Prabhudessai and Snehal Kauthankar provided stability to the innings before Snehal lost his wicket. Later, the captain of Goa, Darshan Misal, played a fine knock of 51 runs, whereas Samar Dubhashi is unbeaten on 39 at the moment, as Goa ended the day with 302/7 and would be the happier side.

For Manipur, Rex Rajkumar and Kangabam Priyojit Singh snared two wickets each. They will look to take the remaining wickets and end the innings as early as possible tomorrow.
