Indian captain Virat Kohli had a disappointing end to his promising little innings in the second half of the Lord’s Test against England this Sunday (August 15).

Just when the skipper had begun to get going under difficult circumstances on Day 4 of the Test match, he nicked out trying to reach a wide ball outside off from left-arm paceman Sam Curran.

The wicket ball was Kohli’s 31st and the first of the 23rd over of the Indian innings where Curran got the great batsman out edging a ball comfortably to wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow.

Back to back untimely dismissals for Virat Kohli in the Lord’s Test

Virat Kohli seemed furious with himself to have been drawn into playing at the ball delivered from the over-the-wicket angle by the left-arm pacer, one that he should have let go off as the chances were minimal of him being in control of the attempted push.

What would’ve added to the batsman’s disappointment is the fact that he had made a decent effort to survive till then and even struck four boundaries in his knock of 20.

Just when Kohli was looking to set himself up for a lot more with an eye towards extending the Indian second-innings lead, he got out in poor fashion.

As the cameras panned on him, Kohli wore a look of dejection about him, having recognised perhaps that he should have left the delivery.

Virat Kohli had gotten out in a similar fashion in the first innings of the Test as well. Albeit not a massive error, unlike the one to Curran, Kohli did falter outside off to right-arm seamer Ollie Robinson from over the wicket angle.

Up until that point, Kohli had made a resolute effort to collect 42 runs from his end off 102 deliveries. On the 103rd, however, he got out nicking behind to one that initially shaped up to be an incomer from wider of the crease but moved away late after pitching and took the outside edge along with it.
