All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga and pacer Sandeep Sharma are absent from Rajasthan Royals (RR) playing XI for the IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Jaipur on Thursday.

Wanindu Hasaranga and Sandeep Sharma are absent for RR vs MI?
Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag said at the toss that Wanindu Hasaranga suffered a niggle whereas Sandeep Sharma sustained a broken finger. Kumar Kartikeya and Akash Madhwal have come in for Wanindu Hasaranga and Sandeep Sharma respectively.
“Couple of changes, Hasaranga has a niggle, Kumar Kartikeya comes in, Sandy (Sandeep Sharma) bhai has broken his finger so Madhwal comes in,” Parag said at the toss.

Wanindu Hasaranga has had quite a decent IPL season so far, taking 10 wickets from eight matches. Sandeep Sharma, too, has enjoyed similar success, taking nine wickets from 10 matches. However, Sandeep Sharma has been ruled out of the season due to injury.
Must-win game for RR
Their ongoing match against Mumbai Indians is a must-win match for Rajasthan Royals, who have been hampered with multiple injuries now. The Jaipur-based team are missing their regular skipper Sanju Samson due to an injury. The Kerala batter has played seven matches in IPL 2025 and has scored 224 runs at a strike-rate of 143.39.
Rajasthan Royals are in eighth place in the IPL standings with six points from 10 matches and a loss to Mumbai Indians will end their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs.
