This will add on to India's headache.
During the ongoing IND vs NZ 1st Test, India faced a major blow on Day 2 (October 17) of the game after Rishabh Pant walked off the field due to a knock to his knee.
India were already struggling after registering their lowest total at home (46 all out) and then Rishabh’s injury caused a further headache for the hosts.
Now, on Day 3 (October 18), India suffered another setback after one more batting star picked up an injury.
In the 55th over of New Zealand’s innings, Daryl Mitchell nicked a delivery from Mohammed Siraj toward the gully region.
Batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was stationed at the gully managed to take a sharp catch but immediately started shaking his hand and clutching his fingers.
He was seen leaving the field and was replaced by Axar Patel, while Sarfaraz Khan took his place in the slip cordon.
However, unlike Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal later made a return to the field to open the batting for India’s second innings and currently looks fine.
Speaking about the match, after India put up a horror batting show, the visiting Kiwis capitalised and posted a towering score of 402.
Rachin Ravindra slammed a stellar century, scoring 134 runs coupled with Devon Conway’s 91 helped New Zealand take a massive lead of 356 runs.
For India, spinners dominated with Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav picking up three wickets each. Siraj got two, while Bumrah and Ashwin finished with one scalp apiece.
