WATCH: Sizzling sixes in Raj Angad Bawa’s 162* against Uganda in U19 World Cup 2022
India U19s Raj Angad Bawa, on Saturday, January 22, went berserk during the match against Uganda U19 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. The left-hander lit up the U19 World Cup 2022 with a stunning 69-ball ton and gave an account of his skills with the bat. The 19-year-old didn’t put a foot wrong and gave the Uganda bowlers nightmares in broad daylight.
He came to bat after Pascal Murungi got rid of stand-in Indian skipper Nishant Sindhu in the first ball of the 15th over. From there on, the southpaw didn’t look back and stepped on the gas right from the word go. In the 21st over, Bawa smashed off-spinner Joseph Baguma for two colossal sixes. In the first delivery, Bawa latched on to a half-tracker from the bowler.
Baguma churned out a short delivery and the left-hander smashed the ball over the mid-wicket region for a six. The batter played the shot against the wind, but generated enough power for the ball to sail over the ropes. Baguma didn’t learn from his mistake and bowled another ball halfway down the track for Bawa to collect back-to-back sixes.
Bawa was batting on 12 runs off 20 balls before the two sixes and the big hits got him going. He was also involved in a crucial 206-run partnership for the third wicket with opening batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi. The duo got India’s innings back on track after Harnoor Singh and Sindhu perished for 15 runs each.

Bawa gave a glimpse of his batting prowess during the U19 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he scored 91 runs from three innings at an average of 40.50. In the World Cup match against Tim Tector’s Ireland on Thursday, January 19, Bawa made a handy 64-ball 42 while batting at number three.
Apart from his batting, Bawa is a handy medium pacer, having picked up wickets on a regular basis. In India’s first game against South Africa U19, Bawa picked up a four-wicket haul and guided his team to a 45-run win.
