‘Gambhir still wears a purple up his sleeves’ – Fans react with hilarious memes as Harshit Rana remains uncapped after missing third T20I

Harshit Rana is still uncapped after the third T20I between India and Bangladesh, which is a pleasing development for Kolkata Knight Riders.

India won the toss and opted to bat first in the third T20I between India and Bangladesh in Hyderabad. The captain, Suryakumar Yadav announced their team has made only a solitary change in their XI, bringing in Ravi Bishnoi for Arshdeep Singh, who has been rested for this dead rubber.

India were supposed to make more changes to their XI, especially including the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer, Harshit Rana, who hasn’t made his India debut yet. He was certain to come in for this, for India would have rotated their players and given game time to players who didn’t get any opportunities in the first two matches.

However, Harshit still didn’t get a game, for he had a viral infection and didn’t travel with the team. The BCCI released a statement confirming his unavailability via their social media account.

“UPDATE: Mr. Harshit Rana was unavailable for selection for the third T20I due to a viral infection and did not travel with the team to the stadium.”

Harshit Rana’s unavailability – pleasing news for Kolkata Knight Riders

Harshit Rana is still uncapped after the third T20I between India and Bangladesh, which is a pleasing development for Kolkata Knight Riders. This means KKR can retain him in the uncapped category, spending only INR 4 crores, ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.

Given the quality of Harshit, he would have fetched a lot more in the IPL 2025 auction. Had he debuted for India, the speedster wouldn’t have remained uncapped, and KKR would have to spend a lot more to retain him.

There are plenty of reactions around Harshit, with KKR fans being the happiest ones to see Harshit remain uncapped. We have curated the best ones and posted them in this segment.

Here are some reactions:

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) would find themselves massively unlucky, for Nitish Kumar Reddy and Mayank Yadav got their India caps in the first T20I against Bangladesh in Gwalior. If SRH and LSG want to retain their respective players for the upcoming edition, they will have to pay a lot more and use a capped retention slot.
