Watch: Horrible day for Mohammed Siraj; concedes four off misfield as bowler looks displeased

Ramasubramanian H

Mohammed Siraj has a bad day at the office as he went on to miss the ball completely which went to the boundary while also leaking runs of his own bowling.

Mohammed Siraj hasn’t had a great start to this year’s TATA IPL with his performance in the first couple of matches hasn’t been up to the mark. Many thought that their match against the Mumbai Indians would be where Siraj would back his grand comeback but what turned out was the complete opposite. During the thirteenth over in the 18th match of the 2022 IPL between RCB and MI, Siraj misjudged the ball completely thus resulting in the ball reaching the boundary ropes safely. Shahbaz Ahmed, who was bowling the over, was visibly upset by the extra runs leaked off his bowling.

Siraj was also all over the place with the ball as his second over of the match went for 16 runs with Mumbai’s Captain Rohit Sharma smashing him for a boundary and a six. Then his final over, which was the 19th over of the innings, turned out to be expensive again as this time he went for 23 runs. Suryakumar Yadav turned out to be the villain for him by connecting brilliantly to hit three huge maximums.

He couldn’t provide a better comeback from the start of his very first over either as he ended up finishing his quota of four overs with 51 runs conceded and zero wickets to his tally. This surely wasn’t the Mohammed Siraj the RCB franchise was expecting as they thought of a better version of Siraj. Even last year’s IPL which happened in both India and in the UAE turned out to be a pretty decent season for him with his economy just above six but the start of this season doesn’t signal the same.

Siraj’s performance can be ranked from bad to poor in the first four matches the RCB has played. However, the team would be hoping that he returns well since he has the required skills, experience, and capability to produce a match-winning bowling performance which will be lethal for the Faf Du Plessis led side down the road.
