India A star falls victim to a horror decision against Australia A [WATCH]

It was a rather unfortunate outcome for the talented batter.

During the ongoing first unofficial Test match between Australia A and India A, an India A star fell prey to a horrible decision.

It was a rather unfortunate outcome for the talented Baba Indrajith, who finally got a chance to don the tricolour after a tedious grind in the domestic circuit and would have hoped to get some substantial runs under his kitty.

It was a touch-and-go bat-pad catch at short leg. The fielder Cameron Bancroft also in fact released the ball immediately on reflex upon catching and the attempt could not be reviewed and verified since there is no DRS for the First Class game.

In the replays, however, it could clearly be seen that there was a gap between the bat and the ball. Baba Indrajith was dismissed for a 46-ball 9 runs.

India A batters struggle against pace and movement

Speaking about the match, the tourist batters struggled against the pace and movement of the Australia A fast bowlers, getting bowled out for 107 in the first innings.

India A captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was one of three Indian batters dismissed for a duck, while Devdutt Padikkal led the scoring with a steady 36. Apart from Padikkal, only Navdeep Saini (23) and Sai Sudharsan (21) reached double-digit scores for India A.

In his milestone 100th first-class match, Abhimanyu Easwaran managed only 7 runs, and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, recently selected for his first Test series in Australia, was dismissed without scoring.

Australian wicketkeeper Josh Philippe took five catches, showcasing how several India A batters were dismissed. Many of them appeared tentative, poking at deliveries outside the fourth and fifth stumps, resulting in edges to the keeper or slip fielders.

In response, Australia A were down to 99 for 4 at the end of Day 1’s play with Prasidh Krishna and Mukesh Kumar picking up two scalps each.
