A massive miscommunication led to a disastrous run-out in the middle.
A released Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder and his partner at the non-striker’s end were involved in a comical run-out during their team’s latest international fixture. It was a complete miscommunication in the middle, which led to the opponent getting a massive breakthrough out of nowhere.
The event unfolded on the fifth delivery of the 30th over when Gulbadin Naib and Rahmat Shah were on the crease in the second ODI between Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Sharjah. Nasum Ahmed bowled a length delivery, to which Gulbadin punched through the cover region, and the two batters immediately started running.
However, Gulbadin suddenly stopped, but Rahmat kept running, leaving both batters on one end. The fielder picked the ball and threw it towards the wrong end to the wicketkeeper, but the wicketkeeper instantly threw an underarm throw towards the bowler’s end.

The bowler collected it and removed the bails immediately to cut Rahmat’s innings short since Naib had returned to his original crease before him. The chaos unfolded in the middle, but Bangladesh eventually managed to scrape a big wicket of a set batter, who was clearly unhappy with Naib’s late decision not to run and had to walk back after a decent knock.
Bangladesh put on an all-round show in the second ODI to even the series with one match left. After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first and posted 252/7, a fighting score on that Sharjah deck.
The captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, top-scored 76 runs, while Jaker Ali (37) and Soumya Sarkar (35) also made handy contributions on a tricky batting surface. Nangeyalia Kharote bowled well and snared three wickets, whereas Rashid Khan and Allah Ghazanfar grabbed two wickets each for Afghanistan.
Afghanistan could only manage 184 during the chase before bundling in 43.3 overs, with only Rahmat Shah (52) and Sediqullah Atal (39) applying themselves on the crease. Nasum Ahmed took three wickets, while Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed two batters each for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh are alive in the series after this thumping victory, with the last game being a decider. The final match will occur on Monday (November 11) at the same venue.
